Preparation Instructions
- Preheat electric frypan to 150°C
- Melt 4 tablespoons butter in skillet, then stir in oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans. Cook, stirring frequently, until mixture turns golden brown and crispy, about 5 to 6 minutes. Transfer crisp topping to baking sheet or countertop lined with wax paper.
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter in skillet. Add apples and cook, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes or until they begin to soften. Mix in sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Continue cooking until apples are very tender when pierced with a fork, about 8 to 10 more minutes. Stir in vanilla until evenly incorporated.
- Divide crisp between individual serving bowls. Sprinkle with crisp topping, add a dollop of whipped cream or scoop of ice cream, and serve warm.
- For this crisp, choose firm-fleshed apples that won’t fall apart when cooked. Try Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn—or combo of all three. Feel free to skip a time-consuming step and leave the peels on—they’re packed with nutrients.
