Slow Cooked Lamb Shanks With Red Wine Jus
Ingredients
- 2-3 mid-sized lamb shanks
- 600ml Passata
- 3 cups liquid bone broth
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1/2 brown onion
- 2 carrots
- 1 celery
- 2 tablespoons butter (one for the mash one for the Jus)
- 4 potatoes
- 300ml beef stock
- 200ml red wine
- Rosemary (dried or fresh)
- Thyme (dried or fresh)
- Cumin (dried or fresh)
- Salt
- Olive oil

Preparation Instructions
- Dice onion and garlic
- Salt rub the shanks and coat in flour
- In your ceramic non-stick slow cooker, brown shanks on browning setting, then add in onion and garlic until softened
- Select the slow cook mode for 8 hours
- Add Passata and liquid bone broth
- Dice carrot and celery, put half to the side for the jus and add half to ceramic non-stick slow cooker along with all the herbs.
- After about 4 hours rotate the shanks and give the broth a stir
- 15 minutes before serving prepare the mashed potatoes
- 10 minutes before serving add beef stock, red wine, the other half of the celery, carrot, onion, and garlic in a pan. Add butter to thicken and reduce to a nice consistency. Strain.
- Add the leftovers back to the ceramic non-stick slow cooker and keep the jus to go over the top of the shanks
